Universal basic income experiments are popping up all over Europe

More Europeans are about to get some free money in the name of economics research.

The European Union is funding a new universal basic income experiment in Barcelona alongside similar tests in Helsinki and the Dutch city of Ultrecht.

Around 1,000 low-income households in one of the city's poorest districts will be randomly selected to receive monthly payments of between €400 ($450) and €525 ($590) for two years. All told, the three programs will cost the EU €13 million ($14.7 million).

The study is the latest in a series of research efforts launched across the globe in recent months to put the policy to the test in a real-world setting.   Read more...

While the NBA Finals dazzle us all, there's another story playing out in pro basketball, a sinister tale revolving around Turkish center Enes Kanter. 

Kanter's Oklahoma City team was eliminated from the playoffs long ago. But what's happening with him right now is dark. It's troubling. 

And it's something we should all be paying attention to, no matter how seductive it is to simply tune out the real world while we slip into the sweet embrace of these hotly anticipated NBA Finals.

Pigeons — they're everywhere and there's nothing you can do to stop them.

A photo shared on the /r/London subreddit proved that these winged beasts DGAF about the rules. 

In the picture taken at London Waterloo station, a smug pigeon defiantly poses next to a sign meant to "pigeon proof" the area. 

If this pigeon could make any other noise aside from hooting, he would definitely be laughing manically. 

Just look at his smug little face.

In Paris Agreement speech, Trump never acknowledged the reality of global warming

As a candidate, Donald Trump said climate change was a hoax, and made fun of Democrats who ranked it as a top tier threat to national security. 

On Thursday, during a speech announcing that the U.S. is withdrawing from the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, President Trump managed to do the impossible: Discuss a global warming agreement without ever mentioning whether he believes the problem exists. 

There wasn't a single statement devoted to the reality and seriousness of the issue. Instead, he repeatedly cited his support for a "clean environment," which could mean clean air, clean water, or any number of things other than climate change. Read more...

When you're driving through winding country roads and you can't see what's up ahead, overtaking on a corner is never a very good idea.

The dashcam footage above was recorded by British YouTuber Kookoocachu last week. In the clip she's heading along a country lane when another driver comes belting past, swerves round a tight bend, and comes dangerously close to flipping their car over.
